On Friday, July 25, the Northeast Asian History Foundation held the 2nd Korea-Japan History Education Forum at the Fraser Place conference room in Seoul, under the theme "Comparing History Textbooks for Mutual Understanding."
The forum brought together textbook authors and scholars from both countries to discuss differences and commonalities in historical narratives across three sessions, covering ancient to modern history. In particular, participants compared the portrayal of East Asian history in high school world history textbooks, fostering active dialogue toward mutual understanding.
President Jihang Park stated, “I hope this forum becomes an opportunity to foster a balanced historical perspective and mutual respect,” adding, “We will continue to expand the foundation for cooperation between the two countries through ongoing academic exchange.”
