The Northeast Asian History Foundation held the 434th Wednesday Forum on Wednesday, July 9th, at 2 PM in the 11th-floor conference room. At this forum, Director Park Jihang of the Foundation delivered a lecture titled "The History and Historiography of the Sad Island."
The lecture covered a wide range of topics, including Ireland’s history of colonial rule, nationalism and civil war, economic development and social changes since the 1980s, as well as the conflict between nationalist and revisionist historiography. Director Park highlighted the similarities between Korea and Ireland, encouraging us to study Ireland’s history to reflect on what is similar and different between the two countries, what lessons we can learn from their experience, and what the true path to overcoming colonial legacies is.
