
The Northeast Asian History Foundation holds the International Symposium Commemorating the First Anniversary of the Opening of the Dokdo Research Institute at the Diamond Hall (22nd floor) of Plaza Hotel, Seoul on August 6 (Thursday) and August 7 (Friday).
Held under the theme of “Transformation of the International Order and Territorial Issues,” this symposium is designed to promote interdisciplinary discussions on history, international law and international politics to view territorial issues in East Asia and the Dokdo islets as Korea’s sovereign land from an international perspective and come up with ways to address disputes concerning them.
The symposium will be attended by 11 presenters and 14 discussants not just from Korea, China and Japan but also from Russia, the United States and Australia. Presentations and debates will be made on “Dokdo and East Asia: Past and the Present” (Session I), “Territorial Issues in East Asia from an International Perspective” (Session II), “Interdisciplinary Dialogue on Dokdo Issues” (Session III) and “Transformation of International Order and Territorial Issues” (Session IV); last but not least, general discussion will be held under the theme of “Territorial issues in the Era of Globalization and Finding New Directions.”
