Russian studies as a branch of social sciences in Korea has shown remarkable growth and development over the last thirty years or so. This book itself is proof of such advancement. Scholars of Russian studies in the true sense of the word who read the original Russian texts and conducted research in Russia were asked to set up a single framework that assigns themselves into research fields, and author papers in their respective fields of expertise. The resulting papers have been collected and edited into this book.
Russia is still a country of importance to the Republic of Korea, as well as the Korean Peninsula. Maintaining and expanding cooperation with Russia is among Korea’s essential tasks as a nation. Strengthening Korea’s relations with Russia is necessary in order to democratically and peacefully achieve unification on the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, this book aims to continuously encourage further research in Russian studies in Korea.
