This book is published as part of a research project series after correcting and complementing reports of the research projects selected and conducted from 2007 to 2009. It summarizes various issues in Korea-Japan relations during modern and contemporary periods. This book contains seven research theses dealing with such topics as the fabricated statistics from the Office of the Governor-General of Joseon (Korea), Japanese cartoons by Kobayashi Yoshinori and others, issues on comfort women for the Japanese Army, ways for overcoming the history disputes between Korea and Japan, and the issue of returning Korean expatriates in Sakhalin. Particularly, the thesis of the outlining nature 'Korea-Japan Relations Appearing in Japanese Media' analyzes editorials of Asahi, Sankei and Yomiuri newspapers from 1965 to 2007 which represent the progressive, conservative and moderate groups. The other six theses are also the results of in-depth studies on the major issues surrounding Korea-Japan relations during modern and contemporary periods. This book will be interesting to not just experts but also educators and the general public because it also provides practical working-level assistance while approaching Korea-Japan relations during modern and contemporary periods from scholastic perspectives
