Archeological remains in Ulleungdo show that the material cultures during the periods from old to unified Silla were left there in density. This book attempts to explain the background and process of Silla's subjection and administration of Ulleungdo by linking the archeological remains in Ulleungdo and Silla's mainland. Archeological remains clearly show that Ulleungdo's remaining sites and objects representing its culture were in line with Silla's after the 6th century that are notably represented by tombs and pottery. While significant amount of Silla's pottery were produced in its central and regional factories and transported across the sea, this book clearly tells that Ulleungdo had its own pottery production and distribution system. As this book presents various clues about the reasons, background and historical meaning of Silla's administration of Ulleungdo, it will help clarify 'the linkage between ancient Ulleungdo and the Korean peninsula'.
